The Beauty Of Art

Art is debatably one of the most beautiful creations that convey the emotion, story and thoughts of the artist. Art is able to communicate these emotions in a way words cannot, and can be portrayed in many different styles. Be it digital, oil, pastel, abstract art no matter the form art still portrays a deeper meaning that perhaps the artists cannot communicate through words or actions. Art can provide an escape and to many the feeling of connectedness and no longer being alone. Art is one of the most appreciated pieces as it allows people to think on a deeper level, trying to understand what the artists are trying to communicate. Art can give on the ability to express themselves focus their negative energy into something positive.

The Scream by Vincent Van Gogh is one of the most famous and well know pieces of art in the world. It is one of my favourite art pieces, and personally my favourite work of Van Gogh. Van Gogh uses such an abstract and unique approach to painting this piece, as it is created on such a complex level, and is able to communicate so many emotions, pain, fear, feeling trapped, loneliness and more. The juxtaposition of bright to dull colours is represented in such an obvious and beautiful way as he allows the contrast to create a trapped and agonizing atmosphere. As Van Gogh creates the allusion of feeling confined and enclosed on the bridge, while there is the temptation and beauty that lies just beyond the bridge.

However, while this exquisite piece truly deserves the recognition and praise it has received, there are many Van Goghs artwork that has never been exhibited or recognized. Van Gogh has created many portraits in his art portfolio. However, the most distinguished and renowned piece is the self-portrait he created in September 1889. However, many people never appreciated his portraits that he struggles to make with limited models and people willing to pose for him. His technique did not consist of a simple photograph to painting, he ensured that there was a unique or unusual trait or object within the piece. By doing this he contributed his personal flair and qualities to the piece, something a photograph could not provide.

Van Goghs Portrait of Madame Augustine Roulin was done after the birth of her third child and purely made with the intent of displaying and capturing her motherly glow and aura. It was an extremely significant piece to Van Gogh and meant a great deal to him. He had created and attempted more than five different versions of the portrait until he developed the perfect piece. The piece was created the same year as the scream, yet has not been recognized for Van Gogh dedication and commitment to creating the perfect portrait that displays the women affection and motherly aura. The Madam Augustine Roulin displays the devotion and uniqueness of each painting. The piece was developed with great difficulty and was an oil canvas portrait.

The dynamic and atmosphere Van Gogh created while developing this piece, is what transforms the piece from a plain and boring portrait to a piece that conveys a mothers love for her child and allows viewers to feel and appreciate the nurturing and caring environment. The soft and gently colour of her skin, with the average clothes and hairstyle, as well as the garden filled with vegetables, creates a very homely mood enveloping the painting ith a sort of safe and mellow feels. The entire piece, portrays love and family painting a picture for you to perceive and acknowledge.

Unfortunately as beautiful as the Madam Augustine Roulin is not worth nearly as much as The Scream or his famous self-portrait. Even though this painting clearly meant a great deal and portrays a beautiful meaning and story behind it, it is not appreciated nearly as much as the other two paintings.
